Electromagnetic waves transmit themselves through the ether to transmit electrical energy by wire and to broadcast radio signals. Visible light is also an example of electromagnetic energy.
This energy travels as a wave. Its transmission is near the speed of light in a vacuum, but it slows somewhat when transmitted through wire or liquid.
